The Department of Chemistry is a dynamic and interdisciplinary academic unit dedicated to the study of matter, its properties, and the changes it undergoes. Our department focuses on conducting cutting-edge research, fostering scientific inquiry, and educating future generations of chemists. With state-of-the-art laboratories, renowned faculty members, and a vibrant community of students, we strive to advance knowledge in areas such as organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry and analytical chemistry. Through our rigorous curriculum, hands-on experimentation, and collaborative projects, we aim to prepare students for successful careers in academia, industry and beyond.

The Department of Chemistry is one of the first departments was established by the college in June 1986. Courses offer by department are B.Sc., M. Sc. (Organic & Analytical Chemistry) and Ph.D. degrees. Department of Chemistry is one of the largest departments in the college for its strength, results, teaching and research activities.

    Year of Establishment:

    • Under-Graduate: June 1986
    • Post-graduate (Organic Chemistry): June 2011
    • Post-graduate (Analytical Chemistry): June 2021
    • Research Centre: June 2015

    Aims:

To the advancement of scientific knowledge, prepares future generations of chemists, drives innovation and application of chemistry, promotes sustainability, engages with the broader community, and cultivates ethical and responsible practices within the field of chemistry.

    Vision:

The vision of a chemistry department is to advance the understanding of chemistry, contribute to scientific knowledge, educate future chemists, and make a positive impact on society through research, education, and outreach.

    Mission:

    • Education and Training
    • Research and Discovery
    • Scientific Excellence
    • Collaboration and Interdisciplinary interest
    • Outreach and Societal Impact
    • Diversity and Inclusion
    • By pursuing these goals, a chemistry department fulfills its mission to advance
    • knowledge, educate future chemists, conduct impactful research, contribute to societal
    • well-being, and promote scientific excellence and inclusivity within the field of chemistry.
