Department of Marathi has been established with the vision of conservation of Indian culture, literature and regional language as well as promotion of the mother language in all sectors of life human being. It offers graduate Programme B.A. Marathi since 1993, M.A. Marathi since 2006 and Ph.D. Research Center started in 2021. With the aims of promoting Marathi language & culture and also study of its history. There are 5 faculty members working in the department. Due to the limited space, students cannot use the rich collection of books and reference material. The future complex is going to be used as a centre for Marathi language, literature and culture. There is a plan for library, seminar rooms and separate cubicles for research fellows etc. The Department has a good collection of old valuable manuscripts and we are in process of retrieving and collecting many more such valuable documents.

Today we need more resources for maintenance and development of the same.

Objectives:

• To create interest in Marathi language and literature among students.
• To encourage creative usage of Marathi language.
• To encourage applied usage of Marathi and thereby to enhance their employability.
• To encourage the learners to create modern literature.
